Lusail SC Holds Press Conference Ahead of Al Sailiya Clash in Round 8 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League
Lusail Sports Club held a press conference on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, ahead of its upcoming match against Al Sailiya in Round 8 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League.
The press conference was attended by Portuguese head coach Emmanuel Mesquita, first-team player Mohamed Taher, and representatives of the media.Lusail will face Al Sailiya on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar SC, with kick-off scheduled for 5:15 PM.
At the beginning of the press conference, head coach Emmanuel Mesquita emphasized that Lusail is aiming for a positive result and all three points to make up for its defeat against Al Duhail in the previous round.
Speaking ahead of the match, the coach said: “Lusail’s preparations for the match have gone well. The players are in high spirits and working hard to achieve a positive result against Al Sailiya.”
He continued: “The match against Al Sailiya will be extremely difficult and will not be as easy as some might think. Our opponents will fight to improve their position in the league standings, so we must be at our best, both technically and physically, to secure all three points.”
He added: “Lusail have been performing very well, and we have managed to compete strongly against all teams. However, that alone is not enough; we want to collect more points, and we are confident in our ability to do so.
“In our previous match against Al Duhail, we had the opportunity to come away with a positive result. Although Al Duhail are in excellent form and have a strong squad, we put in a good performance. We managed to score an equalizer after falling behind by a goal, and we also created chances to equalize again after trailing 2–1, but we were unable to convert them. Ultimately, we believed we could achieve a better result, but the final score did not reflect our expectations.”
Meanwhile, Mohamed Taher, a first-team player at Lusail Sports Club, confirmed the team’s readiness for the Round 8 encounter against Al Sailiya in the Doha Bank Stars League.
Speaking during the press conference, the player said: “Our preparations for the Al Sailiya match are proceeding as they do ahead of any league fixture. We have put the Al Duhail match behind us, and our focus is now entirely on Al Sailiya. We are looking forward to securing all three points, God willing.”
He added: “The match against Al Sailiya will not be easy, because there are no easy games in the Doha Bank Stars League, regardless of Al Sailiya’s position in the standings. Our focus will be on winning and securing all three points. We will give everything from the opening whistle and fight until the final whistle.”
He concluded: “The match against Al Duhail was difficult and exciting for both teams, and I appreciate the effort our team put in until the final minutes. We fought throughout the match and could have secured at least a point from the game. However, what is destined has come to pass, and unfortunately, luck was not on our side in the final minutes.”
