Lusail Lose 1–0 to Al ShahaniaOur first football team at Lusail Sports Club lost 1–0 to Al Shahania in this evening’s match at Khalifa International Stadium, in Round 5 of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2026–2027 season. The result leaves our team in seventh place with five points, while Al Shahania move up to sixth with seven points.
Our Portuguese head coach, Emanuel Mesquita, started the match with Arsha Shakori in goal, alongside Amin Ali Reza, Franco Russo, Mohamed Ayash, Omid Ebrahimi, Farhad Esmaeil, Hamidreza Firoozi, Naif Al-Hadhrami, Khaled Mohamed, Ali Nemati and Rodrigo Moreno.
The first half saw both teams exchange attacks in search of the opening goal, with both sides determined to secure victory. In the 38th minute, Lusail came close to taking the lead when Naif Al-Hadhrami struck a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but Al Shahania goalkeeper Shehab El-Leithy saved it and turned it behind for a corner. Despite repeated attempts at both ends, the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, Al Shahania took the lead in the 54th minute through Mohamed Siraj following a counterattack. Lusail responded by increasing the pressure on Al Shahania’s defence in search of an equaliser, creating several chances. Among them was a shot from Farhad Esmaeil that was saved by El-Leithy, who also produced several outstanding stops to deny our team clear scoring opportunities.
In the 84th minute, Ali Nemati almost equalised with a well-directed header, but the ball struck the crossbar. Luck eluded Lusail, who gave their all to find the net but were unable to convert their chances, as the match ended in a 1–0 victory for Al Shahania.
Our team will face Al Shamal next Saturday at 7:45 PM in Round 6 of the Doha Bank Stars League, as Lusail look to bounce back from today’s defeat and return to positive results.
