Lusail Press Conference Ahead of Al Gharafa Match in Round 4 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League

Lusail Sports Club held its press conference today, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, ahead of its match against Al Gharafa, as part of the fourth round of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League season.

The press conference was attended by Portuguese head coach Emmanuel Mesquita, team player Khalid Waleed, and representatives of the media.

The Lusail–Al Gharafa match is scheduled to take place the day after tomorrow, Friday, September 11, 2026, at Khalifa International Stadium, with kick-off at 5:00 p.m.

During the press conference, Lusail head coach Emmanuel Mesquita said that the team’s objective in the upcoming match is to maintain the impressive performances it has shown in recent games and build on the positive atmosphere within the squad following its first victory of the season in the previous round, when it defeated Al Wakrah 4–0.

Speaking about the team’s preparations for the match, he said: “It has been a very positive week, and the players are highly focused and motivated. We are therefore ready for the upcoming challenge against Al Gharafa.”

He added: “The atmosphere within the team is excellent following the important 4–0 victory over Al Wakrah. This win certainly gives us confidence, but it also places greater responsibility on us to continue working and improving in the coming rounds.”

He continued: “The impressive performances and high team spirit are the result of hard work and commitment. Everyone is giving their maximum effort, and there is a strong sense of unity and a great desire to perform at our best in every match.”

Asked about the opposition, the coach said: “Al Gharafa are a big team with high-quality players and an experienced coach, so we know the match will be difficult. We have to be at our very best.”

The coach concluded his comments at the press conference by speaking about Lusail’s supporters, saying: “The support from our fans has been fantastic and gives us a lot of energy on the pitch. We hope they will be with us once again against Al Gharafa in the stands at Khalifa International Stadium.”

For his part, Lusail first-team player Khalid Waleed confirmed that the team is ready to face Al Gharafa in the fourth round of the Doha Bank Stars League.

Speaking at the press conference, the player said: “We are preparing for the Al Gharafa match with the same level of seriousness and focus. The team is working at full capacity to enter the match in the best possible shape.”

He continued: “Al Gharafa are a big team with quality and experience, and we expect a difficult match. We respect our opponents, but our objective is clear: to earn all three points. Our performance is improving from one match to the next thanks to the strong team spirit within the squad, and we hope to produce against Al Gharafa the same impressive level we have shown in previous matches.”

Concluding his comments at the press conference, the player praised the strong support from Lusail’s fans, saying: “The fans are our source of strength and give us extra energy on the pitch. We hope to see them in large numbers against Al Gharafa, just as they have been since the beginning of the season and throughout the previous rounds of the Doha Bank Stars League.”
