Lusail Sports Club Press Conference Ahead of Al Wakrah Clash in Round 3 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League
Lusail Sports Club held a press conference today, Wednesday, 2 September 2026, ahead of its match against Al Wakrah in Round 3 of the 2026–2027 Doha Bank Stars League.
The press conference was attended by Portuguese head coach Emanuel Mesquita, first-team player Saoud Jibril, and representatives of the media.Lusail will face Al Wakrah on Friday, 4 September 2026, at the iconic Lusail Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:15 PM.
Speaking at the press conference, head coach Emanuel Mesquita said Lusail’s objective in the upcoming match is to build on the impressive performance displayed against Al Ahli in the second round of the league, which ended in a thrilling 3–3 draw.
Mesquita said: “Our performance in the last match against Al Ahli gives us confidence to continue working hard and fighting in every game. We hope to deliver against Al Wakrah and come away with a positive result.”
Asked about Al Wakrah and their performances in the league, he said: “Al Wakrah are a strong and experienced team. Their defeat against Al Rayyan in their last match will give them extra motivation to respond against Lusail, but we are prepared for every scenario.”
The coach concluded by highlighting the importance of Lusail’s supporters, saying: “The fans are the heart of football. We play for them, and their support means a lot to us. We are eagerly looking forward to seeing them at our upcoming match against Al Wakrah.”
For his part, Lusail first-team player Saoud Jibril confirmed that the team is ready to face Al Wakrah in Round 3 of the Doha Bank Stars League.
Speaking during the press conference, Jibril said: “Al Wakrah are a big club with extensive experience in the league. It will be a difficult match, as is the case against every team, because everyone has prepared well for the current season. We expect a strong and competitive game, and our objective is to come away with a positive result.”
He added: “Thankfully, the performances we have delivered so far have been encouraging, and we hope the results will soon reflect the amount of work and effort being put in by everyone at the club.”
Jibril concluded by thanking the supporters who have continued to strongly back Lusail during its matches.
He said: “I would like to thank all the fans who have been there for us, especially the Lusail Academy, as well as the management and coaching staff, who have been our biggest supporters in every match, even before we earned promotion to the Doha Bank Stars League.
“The fans have been the difference for Lusail this season, and we hope to receive even greater support in our first home match at the iconic Lusail Stadium.”
